Itz Ah'Biggi! 'Hello Kitty' Christmas Stocking

So, The Holidays are upon us....Well, we made it through Thanksgiving and i'm Grateful! I am thankful for the entire process. Not only was my belly full, so was my heart. I AM FULFILLED! Now, I have so much in mind for Christmas. From paper crafts to sewing Thingz and Great gift idea's. Plus i'll be sharing more! Let's start with Christmas Stockings!
So, i have this left over material...A Yellow Fleece & a lght Blue 'jersey knit',plus a hello kitty cotton shower curtain. I love the stripe boarder. I decided to make a Stocking for my granddaughter.
I'm excited! so, i get to cutting...i cut out a few images for the hello kitty curtain, plus the boarder..i can use that as a trim. Then i made my own pattern 'for the boot' out of construction paper.(it's easy to use, if your like me "into making your own patterns")after cutting the foot part, i add another 8/10 sheet to make the leg (make this however short or long you want) part of the stocking.
After cutting, i placed the pieces onto the first fabric and pinned them together. I traced it about 2inches wider then the paper pattern. I then used the 1st cut out to make the 2nd side...(ended up with 2 blues & 2 yellow's)
Remember "Itz Ah'Biggi"......
Now, All the pieces i cut-out from the hello kitty curtain...i sewed them all together, using the blue knit fabric as the backing(underside).
Be sure in turn the right-side(SIDE W/PIC) down when sewing cut-outs onto fabric and leave an opening big enough to turn right-side out (like making a lil'pillow)
After finishing all the cut-outs, i begin to place them onto the fabric (to see how i want them to look on the stockin
Oh! almost forgot...i did the same for the strip cut-out (used the blue fabric for the backside). I've decided to go ahead an use it for the trim(Stocking cuff) Then i sewed the stocking together (w/right sides together) and turned it right side out to complete.
After that, i sewed the cut-outs to the stocking...making little pockets(that are lined) makes them sturdy, actually the whole stocking is lined with the blue fabric.
Ok! Now this is where i make it "Ah'Biggi"...i know it looks like 2 stockings, but it's not really. It's 1 of each side of the Biggi. You see, i added some blue fabric to the length of the stocking, to measure(from the foot,up the leg to the trim)I actual left some extra fabric hanging over the back(i was not sure how i was going to add the handle) I sewed the too boots together from the trim down the back of the leg, to the heel of the foot.
I also used some of the extra Strip fabric i had left over,to make the sole of the foot. I ended up lining it w/the blue fabric as well. Then i completed the stocking with some yellow fleece fabric for the front side.
Then i added the trim and the handle(for easy hanging)
All Done!...i'll come back soon to show you a picture of my granddaughter with her 'Itz Ah'Biggi "Hello Kitty" Christmas stocking'. (i had to put it away "she's home from school" because it's a surprise! (unless she read this blog) lol. I hope you enjoyed this Itz Ah'Biggi Tutorial. An maybe use it to make for your little one's. Also Big one's too....I'm making a Minnie Mouse one for my 2yr old niece now, and one for my 14yr old niece...not sure what theme i'll use for her's. Enjoy!
